I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Highways obstructions, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. Earlier today, joint patrols with your local Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) and NEDDC Parking Enforcement resulted in 3 parking tickets being issued. We continue to work proactively to address inconsiderate and unsafe parking, particularly during busy school times where it puts children, parents and other road users at risk. Parking is regularly raised with our team and is something requires all involved to take some responsibility
Please be mindful when parking near schools or in general: 🚫 Do not park on zig-zag markings – these are there to keep crossing areas clear and visible 🚸 Avoid parking on junctions, pavements or dropped kerbs 👀 Ensure pedestrians, especially children, are clearly visible to drivers 🚶♀️ Do not block pavements – this forces people, including those with prams or mobility aids, into the road
Many restrictions (double yellow lines, zig-zags, etc.) are legally enforceable under traffic regulations NEDDC Parking Enforcement can issue Penalty Charge Notices where restrictions apply The Police can take action where parking is dangerous, obstructive or puts people at risk In areas without formal restrictions, Derbyshire County Council Highways are responsible for reviewing and introducing measures such as: Double yellow lines Waiting restrictions Road safety improvements
We will continue:
👮 Joint patrols with Parking Enforcement and other parking patrols 🗣️ Speaking with drivers and educating where appropriate 🚫 Taking enforcement action where offences are identified
Please help us keep Dronfield and wider area safe by parking considerately and legally at all times. #Dronfield #SchoolSafety #ParkingEnforcement #CommunitySafety #RoadSafety #SNT
